We start preparing in early June for September rush.  We have twelve cashiers which located upstairs and downstairs.  This results in a very efficient check out process. The wait time is no longer than fifteen minutes at our peak!

The Campus Bookstore posts book lists as soon as they are received by the course instructor.   If your course is not listed, it is because:

• The Instructor has not selected any books for the course yet.
• There are no books required for the course.

We encourage faculty to choose textbooks for their courses as soon as possible, however we do receive textbooks adoptions from faculty up to the first day of classes. If you are unsure contact your instructor to find out why no books have been chosen for your course.

Due to the varying quality and condition of our used book stock, The Campus Bookstore does not sell used books online. If you are interrested in purchasing used copies, we strongly recommend that you visit our store so that you can inspect the condition of the used copy prior to purchase.

We generally recommend that students wait until the first day of classes to buy their books. This way students can be certain of the books that are required versus those that are recommended. It is also useful to get a first hand descripton from the professor of what topics will be covered in each book. 

Yes, you can check our website using your course code (ie. ANAT100).  If the book is in stock you will see it along with the price of the book.

General reading books, insignia items and clothing items may be returned within two weeks of purchase. Merchandise must be in new and unused condition and accompanied by a sales receipt. If you have defective merchandise please return as soon as possible so that we may offer a replacement.

We regret that our textbook policy cannot be as liberal as our general returns policy. We will be happy to offer a full refund so long as: you have your sales receipt,the book is in the same condition that you purchased it in, and shrinkwrapped items are returned unopened. Returns must be made on or before the following term deadlines, or within one week of dropping a course:

• Fall and Fall/Winter Terms: 3 weeks from the first day of classes.
• Winter Term: 2 weeks from the first day of classes.
• Spring, Spring/Summer, and Summer Terms: 1 week from the first day of classes.

The use of a required book is critical to the success in the course, and the portion of the book used is between 50% - 100%. The contents of the Recommended texbooks are complementary to the course content, even though the use of the book is not critical to the success in the course. Students should be notified by the instructor of the usefulness of the recommended book as a reference tool.

Technically the "recommended" books are not critical to success in the course. However, we suggest you wait until the first day of classes to decide. Generally, professors will inform students exactly how important the "recommended" texts are.

For gifts, clothing, stationery and any non-textbook items there is both GST and PST.  PST is 8% and GST is 5% which equals 13%. The PST is the Ontario province tax. Whereas for Textbooks it is simply GST which totals 5%.

Of course you can. The shipping fee is $5.00 then an additional $0.50 for every additional item. If we already have the item in stock it shouln't take more then a week to arrive. The easiest way to place orders is via our website www.campusbookstore.com.

If your course code is not online it simply means that your professor has not yet chosen a book for the course. It can also mean that there are no required books for the course.

We only hold books if they are completely paid for. However, we do not hold books during the September rush. Please keep in mind that we order more than enough textbooks. Therefore there is no need to pre-order them. The Campus Bookstore is extremely efficient and prepared for the early year rush.

Generally if a book is brought back to your home campus or at a participating store near your home campus you will receive approximately 50% of the price of the current new book price. We call that the "Home Price". If the book is being used at a campus elsewhere you will receive 30% of the current new book price. We call that the "away price".

The Campus Bookstore and Campus Computer stores are operated separately by different organizations. Therefor we do not sell computers here at the Campus Bookstore. The Campus Computer Store services the technology procurement needs of the students, staff, faculty and alumni of Queen's University. Located in Depuic Hall, it has a large assortment of supplies, accessories, computers, and new technology in stock and on display. The Bookstore sells two types of calculators.  Casio FX991MS+ for Science and Sharp EL738C for Business students. Both are approved and do not need to have a sticker.

There are strict rules limiting the capacity of calculators used in examinations. In Applied Science, all communicating calculators are banned. Approval of all other calculators for examination purposes must be obtained. Refer to the Calculator Information website for details on when and where to obtain a calculator sticker: http://appsci.queensu.ca/studentinfo/help/calculators.php

Calculators with substantial storage capacity will be marked with a red sticker. All others will be given a gold sticker. On most examinations, only gold stickers are permitted. The instructor in the class will advise the students which class of sticker will be permitted in an exam. The examination Proctors will also be told which class of calculator is to be permitted. Students bringing unauthorized or unmarked calculators into an examination may be charged with academic dishonesty.
